I've reproduced it on Ubuntu 18.04 The key is the Origin and Angle at the bottom of the Print dialog. For me it was X:1.0, Y:0.0, Angle:45.0 The edge page numbers are (-/-) due to a small bug in cprin

The blobby grey illegible mess in the middle is consistent as far as I've tested and happens on every sheet. It's the same on PDF as direct to printer. It does look like a font rendering problem. The

Definitely not a single sheet! This is a 12' by 8' layout printed a 1:1 scale on A4 sheets. But if the numbers at the edges are also supposed to be number/total then why am I getting (45/3) and (14/4)
